Congratulations to Susan Arnold, 2016 Recipient of June Hale Award for Excellence in Music Education!!!
Saecula Choir Foundation named Susan Arnold the 2016 recipient of the June Hale Award for Excellence in Music Education. Susan recently retired after a long and distinguished career as music teacher at Worthington Hooker School. Over the years, she has instilled a love of music and a passion for excellence in countless students, and has earned the respect of fellow musicians throughout Greater New Haven and beyond.
An informal reception for Susan and her colleagues, friends, former students, and their families was held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 7:00pm at Miller Gathering Hall of First Presbyterian Church, 704 Whitney Ave. in New Haven. This was a wonderful opportunity to reunite with old friends and greet Susan in a relaxed setting.
The award was formally presented during United Choir School’s Fall Festival Gala Concert on Saturday, October 22 at 4:00pm at Yale University’s Woolsey Hall, 500 College St., New Haven CT 06511. All of Susan’s former students who were present were invited onto the stage to sing a special song for her and pose for a photograph.
We were so fortunate to have the opportunity to honor Susan’s exemplary work and acknowledge the profound impact that she has had on the lives of thousands of students throughout her teaching career.
